Gaffer Dolphins

Friday and Saturday

Both days we returned to the tuna fleet east of the inlet. It was either you got hit by the big eyes or you had a long day. We fell into the long day category both days.......Tough fishing for the majority of the fleet. We did scrap out a few dolphin, tile fish, and sea bass to send our crews home with some meat. We enjoyed the company and the great weather!

Bigeye Tunas

We started off where we left off yesterday with the bluefins. We caught and released around 12 fish in the 20-30lb range. We left there and headed south to some boats that were reporting a scattered yellowfin bite. When we got there we hooked 7 big eyes at once and landed 4. All of these fish were in the 100 lb range. Plenty of meat! There were good catches of yellowfin from some of the boats in the fleet as well. Thanks, Huck

Bluefins and makos

We caught 10 bluefins and a mako today. We could only keep one of each, but the bluefins were a nice class of fish in the 40 lb range and provided plenty of action. We also had an encounter with a bigger mako today that worked out in the makos favor! The mako that we did catch weighed 85lbs. Thanks, Huck

Tunas

Good yellowfin tuna fishing for the fleet the last couple of days. The warm water that we have been waiting on moved in and hopefully it will stick around. We have next tuesday,thursday and sunday available. Give us a call and we can get you out there. Huck 252.216.5880

Gaffer Dolphins
